EXCERPT: The St Ives musician, who founded The Eccentric Party of Great Britain in January, stood as the prospective parliamentary candidate for Uxbridge and South Ruislip alongside Boris Johnson in May’s General Election. He finished tenth out of 13 candidates after polling just 50 votes and lost his deposit.
I was quite shocked when I was contacted by Reel to Reel Productions in Canada to take part in their film.
I’ve never thought of myself as an eccentric, it’s the rest of the world that’s potty I’ve always thought. But I’m glad I took part in the film, we all had a lot of fun making it in and around St Ives. Now for the first time, the film is being shown in the UK.
Jug was the former guitarist in a band with the Loony Party’s founder, Screaming Lord Sutch, and it was Sutch who gave him the nickname Toby Jug, which he later adopted by deed poll.
